Hoogwater Farm Picnic

This weekend members of the Hoogwater Harvest Share were invited to come along to Hoogwater Farm, near Wolseley, to find out where our season’s peaches and figs are grown, and to meet Charles Ochse, who kept aside a portion of his farm’s produce just for us!

The morning started with a wine-tasting (Charles is also a maker of excellent artisan wines, bottled under the label Ladera Estate), followed by a gentle amble into the peach orchards.  We settled down on comfy straw, laid out our food and drink and proceeded to shoot the breeze with Charles and assembled company.

For dessert, peaches and figs, straight off the trees!

Thanks for all your hard work in getting the fresh fruit to us. I am glad the next collection is only next week as am all peached and figged out.

    Cheers

  • Sorry we missed this outing looks heavenly, we have had an African Relish weekend working in CT and were lucky enough to attend the Food Blogger Indaba yesterday.

The Evita figs are so sweet and succulent, we are using them along with some Adams figs from Prince Albert in a dessert tart we are making for a trade dinner tonight.
